VP / Director of E-Commerce - Contemporary Company

A Contemporary Company is seeking a Director of E-Commerce to drive their e-commerce business, develop and maintain vendor relationships and collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams in Business Operations, Finance, Marketing, Product Development, Design, Legal, Marketing/PR, IT and Sales to execute successful product, service, and promotional launches. The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial mindset, deep expertise in the e-commerce and digital marketing landscape and thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative environment. This position reports to the COO.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the overall e-Commerce business strategy; Set KPI benchmarks and create and execute a plan to meet aggressive traffic, revenue and margin growth goals, while maintaining a premium customer experience online.
  • Drive digital marketing efforts; optimize customer acquisition & retention strategies across all digital channels: Email, PPC, Social, SEO, Content, Affiliate, Influencer) & manage 3rd party agencies.
  • Develop and execute a strategic, data-driven marketing & promotions plan; maintaining an internal, cross-functional calendar and timelines.
  • Lead execution of an omnichannel operations strategy to support & optimize the customer journey online, in the brick and mortar retail stores and support wholesale.
  • Work cross-functionally with planner and merchandiser to ensure product mix and inventory strategy supports business goals.
  • Oversee social media platforms calendar and strategy.
  • Work with art director to create visual assets that support both the brand look and voice as well as business/campaign objectives online.
  • Oversee e-commerce infrastructure and make technology recommendations to create internal process efficiencies, optimize UX and drive conversions.
  • Oversee and mentor a team of direct reports in customer service, merchandising, CRM/digital marketing and operations; hire new employees to help scale the business.
  • Work closely with C-Suite to develop operating budgets and revenue projections/goals.
  • Lead the execution of site refreshes and marketing initiatives. Ensure proper tagging of marketing initiatives to measure, analyze and report key business metrics to senior management.
  • Responsible for improving customer service, satisfaction, and engagement.
  • Provide ongoing data analysis, customer, industry, and market research.

Experience/Requirements/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business, Marketing or related field preferred with a minimum of 7 years of E-commerce experience with the first-hand experience in site analytics and merchandising. MBA a plus.
  • Strong understanding of e-commerce platforms including Shopify Plus and Magento.
  • Fashion Apparel and/or accessories experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of the customer journey and highly experienced in online marketing channels including paid search, search engine optimization, email marketing, and affiliate marketing.
  • Highly analytical with a proven hands-on capability to leverage metrics to drive decision making.
  • A true team player with demonstrated leadership ability in recruiting, motivating, retaining a top performing team.
  • Ability to collaborate with 3rd party and internal technical and design teams.
  • Strong functional understanding of the operational aspects of direct-to-consumer fulfillment.
  • Outstanding financial and business acumen with the ability to interpret results and recommend appropriate action.
  • Strong independent decision-making skills as well as excellent communication, organizational, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of e-commerce platforms including Shopify Plus, industry-standard POS, ERP systems & Google Analytics preferred.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills to lead the implementation of new site features and functionality in partnership with cross-functional teams and/or third partners.
  • In-Depth knowledge of digital advertising including ROAS, ROI and campaign management.
  • Proven leadership and management skills. Must have experience building a cohesive team.
  • Strong knowledge and oversight of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest
  • Must stay on top of digital trends, competitors, and industry best practices.
