SALES DIRECTOR - Indie Hair Care Brand

Location: Brooklyn, NY
Rapidly growing indie hair care brand, seeking a results-driven Sales Director to oversee the development and management of retail sales strategies and key account partnerships. This is an exciting opportunity for a sales manager to take the next step in their career and play a major role in building the brand and team. Our retail distribution includes: Ulta, Target, Sally Beauty, Costco, Anthropologie, UO and Riley Rose.
Lead and manage the in-house sales team, maximize opportunities across existing client relationships, prospect new business and identify competitive advantages within the mass beauty landscape.
Core Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Brand President to create, develop and implement a strategic sales plan to advance the brand vision and expand footprint within the mass beauty landscape
- Lead, define and develop brand’s B2B partnerships in the US and global markets
- Develop product, price and positioning strategies for each channel of distribution: mass, pharmacy, grocery, club, specialty, off-price, ecom
- Meet and exceed sales revenue goals and profitability benchmarks as set forth by Brand President
- Prepare weekly reporting, analytics and findings to management team
- Manage and foster relationships with key accounts and seek out new business opportunities
- Lead, manage, develop and grow sales team
- Prepare for and attend meetings, trade shows and events
- Oversee execution and approvals of client deliverables and programs; sales decks, product assortments, pricing, marketing campaigns, launch plans, contract terms, etc.
- Oversee execution and maintenance of internal sales documents and tracking sheets; line-sheets, order forms, sales reporting, client PL’s, budgets, forecast planning, etc.
- Partner with the planning team to analyze channel sales, review forecasting and identify areas of opportunity for growth
- Partner with management team to budget and forecast sales by category and territory
- Plan, coordinate and lead execution of promotional activity across all distribution channels
- Analyze retail and competitive landscape to develop focused action plans and recommended assortments for clients and the brand
- Network at industry events and business functions
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5-10 years of CPG wholesale experience, preferably small beauty
- Knowledge and sound understanding of mass retail strategies
- Experience managing and motivating a team to drive results
- Must demonstrate strong strategic, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment that is rapidly changing
- Intuitive grasp of the beauty client and a drive to impact and satisfy customer needs
- Ability to generate innovative insights from analysis and communicate results effectively
- Demonstrated ability to execute projects on time and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Superior analytical and quantitative skills to build forecasts and PL’s
- Experience working with syndicated data (Nielsen, IRI) to analyze and understand the marketplace
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, EDI and CRM platforms, SAP (a plus)
- Must be located in New York City area and able to travel domestically and internationally
- Permanent residents or citizens of the US only
