Quality Lab manager - Wovens and Knits

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs fabric and garment testing on all incoming material and trim items following ASTM test methods (D 434, D3776, D 5034 etc.) AATCC 135, AATCC 61-4 , AATCC15.

Note, these are some examples of required testing knowledge.

  • Works closely fabric and product development teams and collaborates with Design teams in order to complete test on a timely basis.
  • Receive and Process fabric on Fabric Data Sheet and send to distribution list.
  • Conduct visual evaluations on all incoming fabric samples (Water Falls) against approved color standard. Visual inspections are carried out using MC Beth light box.
  • Must be familiar with the use of Data Color Spectrophotometer.
  • Maintains and updates shade bands in cooperation with QA director.
  • Maintains all testing records and communicates results in writing to internal teams involved in the fabric and trip approval process.
  • Understanding of upcoming launch and shipment schedules to evaluate products in a timely manner.
  • Performs task related to Lab functions and supports Quality Assurance team as needed.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in apparel manufacturing is desired coupled with textiles construction and classification. Must be familiar with Woven and Knits
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize with sense of urgency.
  • Strong mathematical and statistic analysis skills are preferred along with strong oral and written communication skills, utilizing MS Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Candidates need to be able to lift up to 40 lbs. The position entails frequent walking, and standing and occasional bending and reaching.  The position also requires washing of the fabric/material using bleach and cleaning chemicals.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • As this position is a key one on our quality team, and its throughput is essential to meeting our customers’ expectations, excellent attendance is a key component for success.

  • This position work hours are 7:00Am to 4:30PM M-Thru and 7:00AM-11:00AM Fri. and includes a ½ hour lunch period.
  • Must work OT according to business needs, this would be typically on a Friday.
