PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Apparel Company, located in the heart of the NYC garment center. The Production Assistant is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the day-to-day Pre-Production/ Production procedures for both current and new items within the assigned classification, under the direction of the Production Manager. The Production Assistant partners with the internal departments of Design, Sales, and Production to ensure timely execution of the Production Calendar. They will assist in the managing of the Pre-Production lifecycle from Bulk Order placement to Delivery.

Specific responsibilities of this position are as follows: 

  • Performs daily tracking and execution of key tasks according to the T&A Calendar
  • Creates and maintains all PO’s
  • Requests, follows up and ships all Samples.
  • Confirms all Care Labels, UPC’s, and carton markings with Factory.
  • Maintains the WIP report for all styles and deliveries.
  • Communicate and follow up with overseas vendors daily.
  • Participate in Daily Cross functional team meetings with Sales, QC, Product Development, Technical, and Design reviewing and resolving current T&A related activity or issues.
  • Follows Production testing, Pre-Production testing and final inspections, CTL submissions, lab dip testing, and shade-bands for Walmart.
  • Manage and resolve testing failures and non-compliance with Factories/Suppliers and Retailers.
  • Implement inspection and testing requirements - Color Standards
  • Keep all styles updated on apparel sustainability initiatives such as Higg Index, GRS, RCS, and GOTS.

The successful applicant will have the following skills:

  • 1-3 years’ experience
  • Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in some capacity associated with apparel production, product testing and/or factory compliance.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office, Excel (basic formulas), Retail Link
  • Experience with testing programs and factory compliance of major retailers, including Walmart, Costco, Kohls, a plus.
  • Good color sense, and ability to review lab dips, strike offs and trims.
  • Experience with Walmart a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting.
  • Flexible and Adaptable to change.
  • Team player with ability to partner with others to effect solutions.
  • Strong understanding Excel
