Product Development Associate - Cold Weather Accessories

Company Background

Madison 88, Ltd. is a fast growing fashion accessories importer and product development company based in New York City. We are a leader in cold weather accessories - specializing in private label knit hats/scarves/ gloves, wovens, straw hats and soft home goods. We are looking for a mid-level candidate with a background in Product Development. We have international production overseas as well as offices in Asia. We ship worldwide to some of the most famous brands in the world - Outdoor and Sports brands such as Burton, Columbia, LL Bean, etc.  And Specialty Chain stores such as Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Guess, etc.

Job Details

  • Monitor the product development process for several key accounts from start to finish: tracking proto sample developments and approvals, pricing confirmation, color and testing approvals, etc. until bulk production ready.
  • Manage the individual product development calendars of accounts assigned, as well as internal, company specific calendar
  • Be able to analyze multi formatted tech packs and communicate customer specific requirements with overseas factories for the execution of samples.
  • Comprehensive workflow on our custom built PLM system, including, but not limited to: product updates, running cost sheets, BOM updates, and inputting correct data per SKU
  • Analyze costing and handle pricing negotiations with the factories by applying knowledge of cost of materials, consumption and production processes. Prepares the costing paperwork for approval and costing breakdown for submission to customers
  • Sitting in on high-level meetings with customers for: new season product presentation, tech pack handoffs, proto comment reviews, etc.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
  • Develop necessary trim for customers if needed.
  • Work cross functionally with internal teams including tech design and production to ensure smooth product flow and to ensure that the end product is properly executed.

Requirements

  • We are looking for somebody who has a background (minimum of 2-3 years job experience) in Product Development
  • We are looking for somebody who has a good textile technical background on yarns/materials. Having a knowledge knitting is highly preferred.
  • Must be organized, professional, detail oriented and a good team player.
  • Professional in oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have above average aptitude in: Analytical, Organization, Detail Oriented, Problem Solving, Planning, Follow-Up, Project Management and Time Management.
  • Must be open to domestic or international traveling and can manage a load of e-mail communications.
  • Be able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment.

This is a great opportunity to work in the exciting world of fashion accessories. This is a full-time position and will be based in our New York City office. Legal working status in the USA is required.
