PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT - Women's Swimwear

New York based women’s swimwear company is looking for a Product Development Assistant to join an established team, working on private label/owned brand product for retailers.  Monday-Thursday in office; Friday WFH or in office as needed.

Responsibilities: 

• Assist in the development of all product associated with the brands

• Effectively communicate and collaborate with all cross functional teams throughout the development process and into production, including designers, technical teams, production and color specialists.  

• Assist with fabric sourcing requests and work with mills on fabric development, lab dip & strike-off requests, trim development, and testing requirements for quality and color.  Interact with Color Specialist on approval process and maintain WIP.

• Assist in requesting and following up on sample requests with overseas factories.

• Assist in creating and negotiation of the brand T&A calendar with factories and cross functional partners. 

• Own and maintain various processes required by the brand

Qualifications of Product Development Assistant: 

• Effective verbal and written communication

• Detail oriented, organized and punctual 

• Able to quickly learn and take on new responsibilities

• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to adapt to changing task

• Able to work independently as well as in a collaborative environment.

• Positive and open approach to work and challenges

• Working knowledge of retail costing and negotiations

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook

• 1-2 years of industry experience. 

• Experience related to product development required

• Experience in swimwear a plus

• Bachelor's degree
