FREELANCE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE - Hybrid

Our client, a prestigious fashion company in New York City, is seeking a Freelance Product Development Associate to support woven product categories including outerwear and bottoms. This is a hybrid position and requires 3 days onsite minimum.


Responsibilities:

  • Performs operational functions supporting designated product categories.

  • Assists the Director of Product Development in the development of product from initial design concept to placement to production to shipment of an item.

  • Anticipates potential problems and risks; generates ideas, insights and solutions to resolve or avoid potential problems; proposes solutions to Director.

  • Reviews historical costing to determine targets

  • Analyzes, negotiates and confirms costing from factories

  • Creates and maintains cost logs from sketch to proto phase.

  • Monitors milestone calendars to ensure that deadlines are met, issues are flagged, and updates to the team are timely.

  • Maintains effective communication with vendors and agents to ensure shipments are delivered on time; troubleshoots and resolves any issues that arise.

  • Supports the issuance of Proto orders via system as necessary

  • Perform daily tracking and maintain records of details, updates, changes for (PLM) system and proto samples ensuring due dates are met

  • Demonstrates understanding of price value relationship.

  • Takes initiative to utilize product knowledge to find new resources and creative methods of sourcing product to impact the assortment.

  • Provides relevant data to merchants for PO issuance and ensures accuracy before sending completed PO to vendor.

  • Supports continual development and refining of work flow, processes and tools in partnership with the Director.

  • Establishes and cultivates strong relationships with all internal and external business partners.

Qualifications:

  • Calendar Management experience

  • Communicating with factories overseas 

  • Cost experience and creating cost charts

  • Excellent communication & presentation skills (to include good listening & negotiation skills) 

  • Must be detail oriented, resourceful, have excellent follow-up skills; learning and using all appropriate contacts to gather information & drive solutions. 

  •  Computer skills - Microsoft office, Centric PLM, DTS
