Fabric Research & Developer - ANNA SUI

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is responsible for the sourcing and development of the prints and fabrics for the seasonal collections that are aesthetically and price point appropriate for the Anna Sui brand.

Job Objective:

  • Research and develop new seasonal prints and fabrics.
  • Review strike off and fabric submits for color and quality from development to production.
  • Ordering and tracking of strike offs, sample yardage, lab dips & hand looms.
  • Manage and understand the fabric development process through to production.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Attend fabric and print appointments and meetings.
  • Make and issue seasonal color cards by delivery.
  • Coordinating and communicating daily on an advanced level with overseas mills, vendors and factories from development through to production.
  • Manage fabric /textile/ color development of printed, solid and woven fabrics from sample to bulk stages.
  • Comment on lab dips/ print strike offs for color approval and direction for sample into bulk.
  • Work closely with CAD artist in the completion of seasonal print artwork.
  • Keep very organized records of fabrics developed, lab dips, sample yardage references and bulk submits.
  • Complete seasonal excel fabric development charts for status meetings.
  • Close communication with production department on fabric information, content, minimums, bulk approvals etc.
  • Continually maintain fabric archive to keep organized and up to date.
  • Lead raw material issue resolution and troubleshooting of fabric related issues.
  • Attend fabric shows to gain perspective on innovation and trends.
  • Fortify vendor relationships and procurement of new resources.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in textiles, design or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years in textiles industry working with fabric and print development, textiles or related field.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Organization is very key to this role.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Clear understanding of general print & fabric development process.
  • Clear understanding of dyeing, printing, and finishing techniques.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft office programs, Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team is a must.
