DESIGNER - Contemporary Activewear
Our client is seeking an experienced designer with a contemporary handwriting for their active/performance business. You will be responsible for full cycle design from ideation, concept, and sketching to issuing specs and development. Should have a great eye for color, love fabric, and understand the innovative fitness category. This is a 5-day work in NYC design office environment and not remote. The salary range for this role is 100-120k BOE.
Responsibilities:
- Research fashion trends, fabric options, and color palettes to contribute fresh ideas to the design process.
- Collaborate with the design team to brainstorm and refine new concepts that align with brand identity and target audience preferences.
- Create detailed technical drawings and specifications for garments, including measurements, construction details, and material requirements.
- Assist in selecting and sourcing fabrics, trims, and other materials.
- Participate in fittings and sample reviews
- Develop and translate design concepts into sketches, mood boards, and digital presentations.
- Work cross-functionally with product development to ensure smooth execution of designs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design
- Previous experience as a designer working for a contemporary lifestyle brand – Activewear a plus
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and 3D software such as Browzwear a plus
- Strong sketching and illustration skills
- Knowledge of garment construction, patternmaking, and sewing techniques
- Experienced eye for trend to capture the new and the next silhouettes, shapes, color, and fabrics
- Understanding of fabric types, textures, and material properties
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in technical specifications and measurements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
