Design/TD Associate - Mens, Womens Apparel

 Bernette Textile, a growing men's & women's apparel company seeks a highly motivated, engaged Design/ TD Associate. We are a 70 year old company with a young, dynamic environment and an excellent track record of delivering successful businesses.

Duties include but limited to:

  • Assists the Design Director in executing design process/ concepts within the seasonal calendar and all additional projects in the department.
  • Design and contribute to seasonal research and styling concepts.
  • Assist with creating and revisions of the cad line sheets.
  • Work in fast paced environment meeting projects calendar deadlines.
  • Create and revise/update style packages with technical sketches of the style, trims and artwork.
  • Spec fit, pre-production, and TOP samples.
  • Communicate with factories regarding approvals comments.
  • Follow up and track all development and pre-production.
  • Create and update development sku plan.
  • Manage style history during development and pre-production.
  • Strong knowledge of Garment Construction and working experience with garment specing. 
  • Review lab-dip, bulk dye-lot, strike-off, and trim submits, sending comments and maintaining submit organization
  • Maintain WIP reports throughout production; sending initial WIPs, reviewing weekly updates, chasing for submits
  • Maintain PROTO Tracker reports through development; sending initial Trackers, reviewing weekly updates, chasing for proto samples and knit-downs/swatches.
  • Assist with fittings, measuring protos and pre-production samples.
  • Assist with Fabric and trim sourcing and development

 

Qualifications & Experience:

Experience

  • 2+ years of work experience in wovens/outdoors/knits including design and product development.
  • In depth technical understanding of apparel design, construction, and fabrications.
  • Full understanding of the product development process

Skills

  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Pointcarre Textile Software experience preferred
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize in a changing environment.
  • Time management skills to manage workflow across multiple seasons and projects and able to track and ensure that all fabrics and samples get developed on time. 
  • Must be a team player and have high energy.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design or 4+ years of related design experience.
