Design Manager - Relocation Assistance Provided

The Design Manager works collaboratively with the design team to create and present seasonally relevant product lines.  The Designer is responsible for over-seeing the development process while maintaining the brand’s high level of quality and premium outlook.  This person will be required to work under tight deadlines, meet critical calendar dates and manage design team members.

**Company will provide relocation assistance.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage design team members; delegate responsibilities and tasks, direct work, provide feedback and training as needed
  • Design and present seasonally relevant product line in response to the merchant line plan
  • Deliver on brand design direction – own and present direction on looks, design themes and trends for the season
  • Select and develop brand appropriate prints, fabrics and artwork
  • Trend and market research for seasonal design inspiration
  • Work cross-divisionally to ensure cohesion between divisions for shared brand stories/seasonal strategies
  • Communicate with vendor partners regarding product development issues and requests
  • Review photo samples, copy and catalogue layouts each season
  • Create style CADs, determine fabric and trim needs and design specifications for pass off to Technical Design partners
  • Partner with cross-functional partners to achieve AUC goals, deliver on design intent and sales growth strategies
  • Initiate artwork with vendors and manage multi-source development
  • Make line changes and updates as needed
  • Ensure all development calendar deadlines are met
  • Attend design, cross-functional meetings and fit sessions

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of Apparel Design experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design degree or related field of study 
  • Be a Brand Ambassador at all times - be highly engaged and represent our passion for our brand, our products and our company
  • Ability to effectively manage and develop design team members
  • Adobe Illustrator proficiency, Photoshop or CAD system experience; knowledge of MS Excel a plus
  • Knowledge and experience with fabric, trims, garment construction, fit and the apparel product development process
  • Strong color and fashion trend awareness/recognition
  • Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills; problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to produce accurate work under tight deadlines
