Design Associate - Women's Contemporary

 

Overview:

Immediate opportunity for a creative, highly motivated, organized and detail oriented design associate who works closely with the designer.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with designer to develop a collection of samples for monthly markets.
  • Manage and process work flow of Pattern Makers, Sample Cutters, and Sample makers daily
  • Coordinating and communicating with cross functional teams (design, production, sales, vendors)
  • Responsible for the administering and completion of salesman samples per each delivery
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of the line (fabrics and design details) and is responsible for tracking and executing changes/additions
  • Responsible for processing and managing all fabric orders
  • Cooperates professionally and works effectively in group settings
  • Fabric research and development per season

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years experience as a design assistant/associate
  • College degree in design or related field required
  • Flat Sketching Skills
  • Knowledge in patternmaking, various fabrications, and garment construction
  • Experience with Photoshop and Microsoft Office programs
  • A pro-active problem solver with sense of urgency
  • Extremely organized and detail orientated
  • Ability to maintain focus and multitask on several projects at once
  • Ability to research and report on industry trend direction, color direction, and fabric innovations
  • Ability to clearly communicate to overseas vendors.
  • Able to adapt to a fast pace ever changing environment
  • Fabric R&D experience as well as knowledge in sweater development is a plus
