A day in the life of a Sewing Specialist

  • Your primary role is the fulfillment of custom orders from e-commerce and special brand project orders by sewing digitally embroidered patches onto luggage accessories.
  • Efficiently - with speed and accuracy - sew custom projects onto luggage accessories.
  • You meet your sewing targets every day and communicate if you are unable to meet your goals and why.
  • You have a keen, meticulous eye for detail in customization and adjust the layout and line up patches onto accessories based off of invoice pictures or instructions.
  • Due to the nature of our business, from time-to-time, you assist in customization by laying out customized designs before sewing.
  • Check inventory sheet for accuracy of customized design pre- and post- sewing.
  • Clean up after projects, customization, and sewing.
  • Communicate supplies, ideas for efficiency and accuracy, repeat damages or anything to improve the sewing process.
  • Travel to events or stores for in the moment sewing for guests shopping.
  • Other office and/or retail duties as assigned.
  • In addition, lead sewing specialist is responsible for some administrative duties such as: 
    • Communicating supply needs, ideas for efficiency and accuracy, damages or anything to improve the sewing process.
    • Liaising with sewing repair specialists to fix and maintain sewing machines.
    • End of day reporting on sewing count per sewing specialist.
    • Leading sewing efficiency and strategizing with fulfillment manager to hit daily targets and turnaround time.
    • Creating weekly sewing schedule based on availability, vacation, etc.

Qualifications

  • Professional work experience.
  • Domestic and industrial straight stitch sewing machine.
  • Experience with post or cylinder bed sewing machine a plus.
  • Embroidery: Know how to operate a manual chain stitch embroidery machine.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel / Office and Google Docs / Sheets a plus.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age and able to work legally in the USA. 

Details

  • Hours expectations: 40 hours/week
  • Weekly schedule subject to change during busy season and events. Stoney Clover Lane reserves the right to make schedule adjustments based on needs requirements.
  • Blackout Dates: Black Friday through final shipping day.
