ASSOCIATE DESIGNER, Women's Apparel - Temp to Perm - Hybrid

We are looking for an Associate Designer Women's Apparel - Temp to Perm for a top fashion company in New York City! This will be a hybrid position.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop all silhouettes and bead layouts per delivery based on direction given by the Design Director.
  • Illustrator sketching, presentation doll board every delivery,
  • Manages and comments on lab dips, trims, yardages during development.
  • Tracking of all dupe samples, including tech and showroom dupes for development.
  • Initiates and maintains all development and production books, filing daily.
  • Purchase color standards, boards, and any other supplies.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of consumer and competition.
  • Complete all fabric requests and tech packs
  • Reviews all proto samples and sends out proto comments.

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Fashion Design or BA in a related field.
  • 3+ years full time industry experience.
  • Strong Illustrator sketching ability a must.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Office; Excel is required to assist in the follow up of trims and proto samples.
  • Knowledge of specing garments and creation of first sample specs a plus.
  • Knowledge of woven and C&S spec process is important.
  • Ability to work to deadline while maintaining accuracy and quality of work as well as work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational/follow up skills, as well as a strong work ethic and “can do” spirit are key to succeeding in this position.
  • Good technical skills, as the assistant must work with the Designer to send out all proto comments to factories.
  • Good sense of how to prioritize tasks; and ability to communicate clearly via e-mail.
  • PLM experience.
  • Good “eye” for color.
