Associate Designer - Sock Products (Children's)

Job Summary: Associate Designer assists in the research of color and hosiery trends at the current retail level.  Helps to forecast coming color and hosiery trends and develop two seasonal lines a year.  Works closely with Renfro Marketing and Merchandising to achieve brand growth objectives. Participates in development and execution of line presentations to include product enhanced by visual aids.  Provides support to assist sales executives in presentation of lines and special projects.  Helps in the research of yarn and construction features for possible new product designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take direction from Renfro Merchandising/ Design Director to create CAD artwork for sock patterns as individual artwork and planogram presentation
  • Research images for specific pattern inspiration and trend board concepts
  • Assemble trend and presentation boards, books and color cards both in a physical format and digitally
  • Organize design information including computer files shared across teams, color swatches, color and reference books and sock samples
  • Take notes during design and presentation meetings
  • Support Design Manager on all projects to help propel business forward
  • Performs additional duties as needed, which are designated by the Design Manager, Director of Merchandising or Senior VP Merchandising and Design

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree or higher strongly preferred, will consider equivalent industry experience and/or design certification + industry experience.
  • 2+ years experience in sock design – or closely related apparel/accessories design
  • Children’s design experience a must
  • Expert in Illustrator
  • Pointcarre knowledge a plus
  • Strong communication, organizational, creative and team player skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Willing to travel on occasion to assist with meetings or research trends
