ASSISTANT DESIGNER - ENTRY LEVEL - Designer Luxury Dress Company

Over the past thirty five years Teri Jon has become a leading brand in the world of fashion. The collection is sold at the finest specialty and department stores around the world, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Lord and Taylor.

A designer for Teri Jon leads and contributes to the entire Design team with the execution of seasonal day and evening collections and trends that maintain the brand identity. This person helps drive the design development process from concept through to production by create original, trend appropriate designs that meet market needs and drive sales, managing the timely execution of each stage in the process.

Job Description:

• Supports Teri Jon Head Designer
• Flat sketching (either by hand or Illustrator)
• Create design sheets and filling out relevant style & fabric information
• Create and distribute Tech Packs for samples
• Create mood/concept boards for each season and competitive research
• Participate in concept review and line building recaps, in addition to line review
• Identify seasonal fashion direction, assortment opportunities and merchandise trends for area of responsibility
• Manage fabric development and s/y charts
• Assist in fabric development for evening
• Communicate with factories overseas on sample development
• Assist in production approvals

Skills Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design
• Strong fashion and creative senses, keen trend awareness
• Extremely organized hard working team player
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Office, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, Web PLM program, etc.
• Basic knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, silhouettes, color concept, & fabrication
• Ability to anticipate needs of team & have excellent time management skills
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; must be highly detailed oriented, creative, & team oriented
