Domestic Cutting Manager

Core Responsibilities

  • Assign work to contractors based on their experience and capacity to meet target deadlines and control cutting quality
  • Issue Cut Ticket Purchase orders to vendors ensuring accuracy of price. Include accurate and detailed notes as needed
  • Run daily reports in Full Circle to review Raw Material demand at each cutting service. Move fabric as needed and provide daily shortages updates to the Domestic Production Manager and RM Manager
  • Maintain and update internal Microsoft Excel WIPs throughout the production process, communicate estimated completion dates or delays to the Domestic Production Manager
  • Send raw material releases to the warehouse RM Supervisor to coordinate the physical movement of fabric to the cutting services
  • Manage the Domestic Production Cutting Coordinator
  • Coordinate all communication with cutting vendors to ensure a smooth and efficient production process
  • Responsible for maintaining Microsoft Excel WIP reports with vendors to communicate estimated completion dates, target completion dates, issues, or delays
  • Request, review, and approve markers
  • Advise the Domestic Production Manager on all contractor capacities
  • Negotiate when needed with vendors regarding cutting, send out, marking, and grading costs
  • Review physical cut tickets as issued by the contractor and actualize fabric in Full Circle
  • Review and approve vendor invoicing, provide necessary backup paperwork to accounting
  • Run raw material status and inventory transaction end of month reports
  • Maintain fabric inventory levels and coordinate fabric returns to/from cutting vendor warehouses
  • Participate in physical inventories as needed, including end of year. Follow all established physical inventory procedures to ensure organization and accuracy

Qualifications

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, flexible in changing direction as needed
  • Proficient with reviewing patterns, pattern cards, and markers
  • Candidate must be highly organized with ability to prioritize with a sense of urgency 
  • Candidate must be a team player, willing and able to work cross-functionally with multiple departments
  • Proven history of consistently meeting production goals and showing improvements in areas such as cutting quality, efficiency, cost savings, waste reduction, lead-time, etc.
  • Must have strong knowledge of the production cutting process as well as proven knowledge of cutting procedures for different types of fabrics (chiffon, knits, wovens, etc.)
  • Self-starter with a strong attention to detail

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in garment production cutting
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working with send outs related to apparel production
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a supervisory role with at least one direct report
  • Education or certification in garment manufacturing is a plus
  • Extremely proficient with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Full Circle experience is preferred
  • Able to work and think independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
