Director, Product Development

Boll & Branch is seeking a highly-qualified Director of Product Development to join our dream team. In this key role, you'll lead a team of 4 amazing product developers to take our robust pipeline of products from concept to finished good. You'll have the opportunity to work with the most talented product team in the world, teaming up with top talent across design, merchandising, and supply chain teams to bring products that uphold the highest standards of ethics, sustainability, and quality to market.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated, and has a proactive, positive attitude, and a passion for making exceptional products.

While we are all working from home at the moment, you will ultimately be working from our Summit, NJ Home Office.

 

Specifically, the Director of Product Development will: 

  • Oversee a team of product developers from initial concept to finished good across the entire Boll & Branch product portfolio.
  • Be an exceptional creative problem solver, consistently leading with solutions and ideas.
  • Be an expert in product construction, fabric development and factory capabilities (lead times, MOQs, and first costs). 
  • Have strength in time & action management. Able to develop and templatize the product development calendar from inception to finished good. Seek to constantly improve our speed to market. 
  • Ensure product development milestones and calendar dates are met and appropriate visibility is provided to the business (executive level summary, T&A visibility cross-functionality). Partner with cross functional counterparts to ensure we are delivering quality product, on time. 
  • Lead PLM implementation. Oversee data importing, product setup, T&A building, trainings, and adoption across functions etc. 
  • Work closely with sourcing and supply chain to identify suppliers that can support product design. Partner with the supply chain team to obtain certification validation, traceability of supply chain and verify all claims on each product line.
  • Contribute to ideation by partnering with our suppliers to develop new products to propose to merchandising and design. Also, actively monitor new competitive introductions and industry technologies and determine how they can apply to brand strategy and category expansion.

 

The ideal candidate:

  • Has 10+ years experience making products, developing fabric and has successfully led a team, preferably in home. 
  • Obsesses about details. They are intimately involved in the creation of their good and ensure they know every facet of product and its contribution to quality, performance, aesthetics, etc. 
  • Is praised and respected for their creative problem solving. 
  • Is personally passionate about their developments and are excited for the work they create.
  • Is exceptionally organized in managing a team and calendar to ensure the teams time and resources are being managed efficiently.
  • Is able to manage to a budget. 
  • Nice to have: Experience/leadership with performance testing, regulatory and claims.
