TECHNICAL DESIGNER

Responsibilities:

  • Manage product lifecycle from sketch through pre-production through production fit approval
  • Helping factories understand how we work and the standards we expect them to meet
  • Daily communication with overseas factories on all fit comments and questions to identify and resolve issues with garment construction and production
  • Work with Design to update measurements and specifications for the tech pack
  • Review and evaluate samples for spec, pattern shape, and construction
  • Maintain consistency in fit across all apparel categories
  • Collaborate with Design and Production/Sourcing on apparel development, to create cost effective styles
  • Evaluate fit to determine if manufacturer has met the requirements of the garments and that all security measures are noted and called out
  • Ensure all specs and detailed fit comments are conveyed to vendors accurately and in a timely manner
  • Utilize digital photos, technical sketches, detailed instructions, and comments from fit sessions to communicate corrections
  • Approve garment for production or reject sample and schedule follow-up fit session
  • Maintain log of incoming samples and measure as they are delivered

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in technical design or related
  • Strong in baby apparel and accessories
  • Knowledge of Girls and Boys sportwear, toddler through 20 as well as Swim, Sleep, etc…

Skills and Behaviors:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of apparel fitting, specs, and fit comments as well as safety issues
  • Ability to work independently to meet multiple deadlines
  • Strong Excel, Illustrator, and Outlook skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with other departments as well as vendors and other overseas offices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a rapidly growing and expanding company
