We are a women’s fashion brand headquartered in Austin, TX. The Designer works to produce and/or interpret concepts, create sketches and photorealistic CADs to present options for approval to the Creative Director/CEO/Founder.  The Designer partners cross-functionally with development and production in the execution of designs.  This person will be responsible for analyzing trends in the marketplace. 

This role is best for a self-starter who loves coming up with new ideas. Experience in the following categories preferred: handbags, small leather goods, jewelry, stationery, home goods and/or loungewear.

Responsibilities

  • Owns design process from initial inspiration to final prototype and is responsible for the product life-cycle including market trend research, inspiration, hand sketching, computer flat sketching, specifications, fit, and ensuring that product is designed to meet target customer needs
  • Create and execute on the vision of the Creative Director/CEO/Founder, ensuring that the product is consistent with market trends, while maintaining the brand identity and overall business strategy
  • Partner with the product development team to ensure design specs are complete, accurate and the desired outcome of the product is achieved
  • Works with production team to maintain tech pack integrity, review and approve fabric samples, trim samples, and top of production samples

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in design or design-related field
  • 5+ years graphic design experience, preferably at a fashion accessories, home or lifestyle brand
  • Advanced proficiency with Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Surface Pattern Design experience preferred
  • Hand lettering is a plus, as well as having an understanding of typography pairings
  • High level of attention to detail with an understanding of pattern making and the capabilities of a wide range of raw materials
  • Strong creative skills with an eye for color, texture, and pattern, and an understanding of the Consuela brand image
  • Ability to sketch both technical drawings and motifs that can be used as icons across multiple product categories
  • Must be organized with the ability to handle multiple priorities at once in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be a collaborative, flexible team player with great initiative and the ability to self-manage
  • Excellent communication skills; able to express ideas clearly and persuasively
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work within a budget
  • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred, but not required
