Our client is an international beauty company with a growing range of make-up, cosmetics, and beauty products for women of all ages. They are currently seeking a Vice President of Sales for the North American market. This position will be headquartered in NYC.

Salary/Rate: $200k+

Position Overview:  This position is responsible for all commercial business development in North America (U.S. & CA) to include full P&L management profit targets, market share (growth), distribution, and in-store and mobile activations. This person is responsible for leading and developing all field sales and education efforts in North America. 



  • Vice President of Sales drives consumer and brand growth strategically and operationally 
  • Creates North American strategy for the brand across all retail channels which includes all retailers (brick and mortar,, on-line, and TV retail)
  • Ensures strategy alignment with corporate, North America, and brand strategies
  • Manages team of corporate direct reports as well as 70 field sales reports
  • Extensive travel required, up to 65% of time
  • Develops all retail sales objectives, marketing plans, and programs within each retailer
  • Creates all brand sales reporting to be distributed on a weekly basis – retailer performance to plan, SKU performance, field tracking and on-going inventory analysis
  • Continues to effectively manage retailer relationships, specifically Sephora and ULTA, creating key brand opportunities and successes
  • Responsible for all commercial negotiations for North America
  • Leads activities associated with new doors and launches to achieve retail sales objectives
  • Determines future opportunities (channel, market, consumer segments, and doors) and liquidation opportunities

Field / Education

  • Vice President of Sales oversees field sales team development and staffing for US & Canada, ensuring effective practices and policies are established
  • Leads goal setting, bonus objectives, and performance review activities in collaboration with Executive Field Sales Director and provides feedback on performance
  • Focuses on major market strategies, brank rank, and productivity
  • Identifies education requirements specific to each channel to ensure consistent understanding of the brand
  • Oversees the development and delivery of best in class education programs, tools, trainings, events, and tradeshows


  • Vice President of Sales creates retailer launch schedules, product exclusives, and timing with VP of Marketing, deciding the strategy for the global business, with US driving the launch dates
  • Strategizes brand marketing objectives and programs for the retailers, creating fully comprehensive side-by side marketing calendars
  • Develops and ensure 360-degree execution of brand marketing, plans, calendars, launches, and tools, through retailer side-by-sides
  • Drives concept with brand and retail marketing on in-store merchandising, mobile activations, secondary exposures, launch initiatives, and sampling opportunities


  • Vice President of Sales develops sales, budget, and profit targets based on priorities
  • Full P&L management and direct responsibility for NET Sales – retail sales, gross shipments, and return liabilities for North America
  • Provides weekly performance to plan, monthly forecast, and quarterly reports
  • Delivers monthly results to plan and create opportunities to achieve the NET sales plan by account
  • Creates weekly reports providing performance to plan for retail sales, gross shipments, and marketing expenses
  • Sets & manages retailer support budget – all expenses for retailer trainings, events, education, co-op, secondary exposure, etc.
  • Responsible for all vendor allowances, ensuring spend is approved, budgeted and ROI is gained & tracked


  • Vice President of Sales is responsible for overseeing retailer OTB and maximizing sales opportunities through deep analysis, strategic planning, and retailer relationships
  • Oversees SKU forecasts to ensure planning accuracy and appropriate inventory levels for launch activation plans
  • Manage allocations by account and delivery availability for all of North America with supply chain/operations/product development
  • Set on-counter dates & partner on ship-to-trade dates for all launches with operations


  • 15 years of relevant sales and buying experience required
  • Sephora Prestige Color experience, highly recommended
  • Able to travel extensively within region (up to 65%)
  • Substantial knowledge of branding strategies and ability to discern those brand/product attributes that will drive strong market relevance, profitability, and competitive advantage, while protecting consistent global brand identity
  • Masterful knowledge of the beauty/cosmetics industry and competitor products, current/future strategies and pricing to assess how to position brand for optimal performance and profitability
  • Strong communication skills to clearly articulate region needs and influence outcomes
  • Significant financial acumen to understand drivers of profitability and prioritize investments for the highest ROI
  • Recognized collaboration and teamwork skills and
  • Ability to build strong relationships
  • Highly developed leadership skills with ability to lead large, geography-dispersed teams, lead effectively in a matrix environment, and develop/retain top talent and earn leadership respect throughout the organization
