Overview

Urban Outfitters, Inc., a  dynamic specialty retailer including global brands like Anthropologie, Free People and Urban Outfitters, has an exciting opportunity in the Global Trade and Compliance area.  We are looking for a Senior Manager of International Compliance to oversee our growing export business and provide strategic guidance for international growth.  The Senior Manager of International Compliance will be responsible for managing all customs related activity associated with the export of product from the U.S. and import into various foreign countries, as well as managing various other Customs compliance related activities.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of three import/export professionals to ensure compliance with all applicable Customs regulations related to the export of products from the U.S.
  • Oversee global classification of various product lines, including apparel, footwear, home textiles and home goods
  • Manage imports into Canada, including oversight and management of Canadian brokerage activity
  • Oversee Duty Drawback program to ensure proper disclosures to U.S. Customs
  • Provide compliance support for international Direct to Consumer shipments
  • Partner with Regulatory Compliance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in Canada and the European Union
  • Assist in compliance investigations, disclosures and audits related to Customs compliance activity
  • Provide strategic guidance to leadership related to various international initiatives

 

Qualifications/

Job Skills

  • Understanding of tariff classification required; apparel and accessory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Customs regulations related to duty drawback, Preferential Trade Programs and Customs valuation
  • Understanding of customs entry requirements
  • Ability to mentor and lead team members to achieve strategic goals
  • Ability to provide clear written or verbal communication on compliance related activities to all levels of management

 

Education

Bachelor’s Degree Required, Licensed Customs Broker preferred

7+ years of import/export experience required
