Overview

The Senior Content Editor works with the Creative Director, Global Content & Curation, Global Creative Marketing Director, Brand Marketing and Partnership teams  to develop, set and maintain the editorial voice of the Urban Outfitters brand across all facets and channels.

 

Responsibilities

DEVELOPMENT

 

  • Develop monthly content themes and long-term content strategies that support and enhance UO brand marketing campaigns.
  • Develop dynamic content features both online, through social media, print, and new technologies including photography, video, interviews and longform writing as well as other forms of storytelling, and strategically incorporate these stories into overall marketing campaigns and social media messaging.
  • Be aware of and implement new content trends and editorial ideas as they relate to the Urban Outfitters brand and customer.
  • Develop photographic and editorial direction as well as overall mood and feel of original stories on a weekly and monthly basis.

 

CONTENT CURATION

 

  • Collaborate with the Creative Director, Global Content & Curation and editorial contributors to curate creative content and develop an ongoing content strategy in line with current brand identity and future direction.
  • Pitch creative ideas for the Urban Outfitters brand as related to content and visual storytelling. Contribute to external brand partner pitches as part of the overall UO creative strategy.
  • Oversee the research, pitch, production, writing and editing of features that represent and elevate the spirit of the Urban Outfitters brand.
  • Seamlessly integrate product and merchandising messages into compelling content stories that will live as Brand Marketing across all platforms—including emails, site creative, social media and social video, and more.

 

COLLABORATION

 

  • Collaborate with Brand Marketing team, Social Media, Events team, Copywriters and Web Designers to ensure that execution and voice are consistently carried out through multiple channels, including but not limited to: editorial content, email campaigns, social media, press materials, video and printed content.
  • Work collaboratively with Creative Director, Global Content & Curation, Global Creative Marketing Director and Execute Creative Director to execute big picture, long-lasting and impactful ideas across multiple platforms, driving engagement, excitement and sales.
  • Work directly with brands to develop branded storytelling through the UO lens.
  • Work collaboratively with content editors, photographers, videographers and other contributors across departments to prepare and pitch cohesive planning on a monthly and weekly basis.

 

MANAGEMENT

 

  • Oversee team of Content Editors in North American office, as well as manage revolving stable of photographers and content contributors
  • Oversee development and execution of content across departments from beginning statges of concept, to final stages of execution and deployment.
  • Top edit content stories for language, imagery, structure, and ensure all branded content is created above standard.
  • Manage W9 and invoice submission process to accounting and maintain monthly content budget.
  • Manage internal processes for images, copy, video needs, planning documents, creative direction and more.
  • Develop and maintain guidelines for branded imagery, voice, and deployment for the Urban Outfitters brand.

 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years editorial experience
  • Passionate about culture, branding, and the space in which the intersect
  • An articulate wordsmith and copywriter, combining a sense of humor with a sophisticated point of view
  • Culturally relevant, with a highly developed interest in fashion, art, music, and photography as it relates to the Urban Outfitters customer
  • Ability to work on a variety of projects at one time
  • Ability to build relationships and work with a variety of coworkers across multiple teams

 

 

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in English, Journalism, Creative Writing or another relevant field
