Associate Product Development Designer - Vince Camuto Dresses

Overview

G-III Apparel Group, the world's premier designer and manufacturer of quality leather outerwear, dresses, women's suits and sportswear with a comprehensive portfolio of over 30 licensed and wholly-owned brands, including Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Kenneth Cole, Cole Haan, Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger, Karl Lagerfeld, Levi’s, Dockers, Jessica Simpson, Vince Camuto, Ellen Tracy, Kensie, Ivanka Trump, and G.H. Bass, among others, seeks a Associate Designer to join its team based in New York City.

The associate designer/product developer will assist the VP of Design and the deaprtment with all aspects of designing and executing cocktail dresses and evening gowns.

Responsibilities
  • Generate tech packs/update cost cards. Accuracy and punctuality are vital to keep te entire design process running smoothly. Must adhere to time and action calendar.
  • Maintain regular communication with overseas and domestic sample-rooms in order to track all sample development ans make sure line review and market deadlines are met.
  • Keep constant communication with sales and production teams in order to ensure line is priced quickly and accurately and that special requests are met punctually
  • Research and design embellishment layout for beaded styles
  • Assist in concept and color palette creation every season.
  • Send out and approve lab-dips, maintain color board for all fabrics
  • Maintain fabric library, track sample yardage
  • Assist in design development through magazine tears, store visits, vintage as well as on-line research
  • Contribute sketches to e considered for each season, focusing on relevant fabrics and silhouettes as pertains to customer base
  • Create detailed and accurate flats by hand. Create proportion lines on dress form and convey this information in factory tech packs.
Qualifications
  • 2 years working in design; dress experience preferred
  • Fashion design degree
  • Experience working with Asian factories
  • Draping skills a plus
