TECHNICAL DESIGNER – Knits & Sweaters

General Overview:

Responsible for the transition of the knitwear styles from construction, quality, and fit by maintaining the Design aesthetic and corporate cost parameters.

Responsibilities:

• Create initial Tech Packs that provide clear, accurate and comprehensive measurements / instructions so that factories can deliver products that meet Tahari-ASL standards for fit, construction and quality.

• Work closely with factories to ensure that all communication is clear and on time, and that all instructions are clearly understood and followed
• Fit and evaluate all samples with Designer in fit sessions on mannequin and live model
• Prepare and Prioritize samples for fit sessions as needed
• Ensure that fit comments from fit sessions are accurately recorded and communicated clearly to factories
• Evaluate and resolve problems with garment construction with designer and factories
• Update Tech Packs after fittings on a timely basis to ensure that Calendar deadlines are met
• Review all Tech Packs for completion, accuracy and clarity before they are sent out to factories
• Update reports with sampling status for tracking to meet deadlines

Required Experience and Qualifications: (degrees, specific functional skills, professional experience, knowledge, proven accomplishments etc.)

• Preferred 5+ years’ experience in the apparel industry, including patternmaking and construction experience.
• Must have live fit model experience
• Knowledge of construction standards and manufacturing methods.
• Strong computer skills with MS Excel / Photoshop/ Illustrator.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Organizational skills and ability to multi-task.

• Ability to communicate with executive level management
• A neat organized and professional manner of working that sets a serious tone for technical pre fits and fittings

• Strong communication with external vendors to be able to build productive working relationships, thus resulting in better faster approvals, better fit and construction
