Technical Designer- Jrs.

Our client is a growing, branded company with strong financial backing. Work with people who genuinely care about each other and the success of the brand.  

They are looking for a practical, down to earth, team oriented technical designer who can refine the process to sustain growth.

Jrs experience required. Children’s experience a plus (alpha and numeric sizing).

Summary:

As a technical designer you will be responsible for executing the technical design process and leading the technical development from concept to production, for knits, wovens and sweaters for Jr.'s.

Job Description:  

  • Responsible for creating and checking all product standards set on the tech pack; Develop and establish standards on garment construction, quality, fit, measurement, grading and decoration placement
  • Own communication to the vendor regarding product details, fit and construction.  Own tech packs; Create and maintain detailed and easy to understand tech packs including Illustrator sketch, measurement sheet (including tolerance and grade rules) and BOM
  • Own fit sessions ; Schedule and lead fit sessions with the cross-functional team, including scheduling fit models that match the company’s measurement standards
  • Own fit consistency and responsible for approvals that achieve the desired fit and construction that meet brand standards. Responsible for product approvals.
  • Own vendor communication for all product details and specifications that are the standards for the product including, development changes throughout the process.
  • Maintain and organize all accurate product records for each style throughout the development process.  
  • Create and keep Block Patterns
  • Ensure consistency of fit & documentation meets brand standards season to season
  • Responsible for creating and executing accurate specifications for all sizes; Create and review all graded specs prior to sending to vendors
  • Resolve technical issues prior to production; Trouble shoot issues as they arise in order to maintain design integrity, keep on target cost, and uphold brand quality standards
  • Responsible to meet all deadlines for the season and work in multiple seasons; Manage product comments back to the vendor and key milestone dates for sampling for meetings and production for each season
  • Organize samples on rolling racks, by season, for multiple seasons for easy reference 

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Apparel Merchandising, Technical Design, Patternmaking or related 
  • 7+ years of experience in apparel technical design (Jr's. experience required) 
  • Proficient in Illustrator and Excel
  • Willing and able to work additional hours, when needed
  • International and domestic travel required
