Technical Designer - Handbags

Overview:

G-III Apparel Group, the world's premier designer and manufacturer of quality leather outerwear, dresses, women's suits, sportswear and accessories, with a comprehensive portfolio of over 30 licensed and wholly-owned brands, including Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Kenneth Cole, Cole Haan, Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger, Karl Lagerfeld, Levi’s, Dockers, Jessica Simpson, Vince Camuto, Ellen Tracy, Kensie, Ivanka Trump, and G.H. Bass, among others is seeking a Technical Designer to join its team in the Calvin Klein division.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Daily correspondence with Asian Fctys
  • Managing Ck quality standards and ensuring all details, measurements, fillers, and so on match to our approved standards when review PP and TOP samples/comments
  • Managing PP and TOP approvals
  • Help hold PP review meetings with Sales on top volume “big idea” styles that are defined at all turn ins after market.
  • Creating full style tech packs with all details including fillers, collars, stitch per inch etc. so that we can counter sample without sending an actual sample. This will also create a tech pack library for us on top volume styles
  • Cading designs directed by Senior design manager and design director 
  • Help ensure tech packs are up to date per season with any corrections on measurements, fillers, and or construction.
  • Knowledge of handbag construction from the inside out
  • Update WIP with dates on PP and TOP approval or rejects (with dates) to help maintain the time and action calendar
  • Be able to effectively manage time and multi-task, pay strong attention to detail,
  • Manage and track all incoming packages based on the Time and Action calendar and secure ftys send on time. 
  • Keep confirmation, PP, and TOP library in tact making sure samples do not go missing (makes note on when Sales or design or PD takes PP/TOP samples for meetings)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical design in handbags
  • Complete knowledge of garment construction and pattern correction
  • Good communicator with strong verbal and written ability
  • Experience with stretch/performance fabrics preferred
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and a self-starter
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload based on delivery schedule
  • MS office, Excel and Illustrator all a must
