TECHNICAL DESIGNER - Dress, Special Occasion and Eveningwear

 

Excellent career opportunity in product development and technical design for Dress, Special Occasion and Eveningwear at this rapidly expanding fashion brand. The technical designer oversees and participates in the fitting process, builds Tech Packs and communicates with factories.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

• Inspect draping to ensure match with sample. Solve problems to meet the Designer’s goals for the garment without compromising the pattern.

• In collaboration with Quality Control Manager, review pre-production samples before approval for production; document necessary adjustments in A2000.

• Communicate with factories to deliver technical information and updates as required.

• Track samples; locate fabric for sample production as needed.

• Manage workgroup with appropriate direction, feedback, and support.

Primary Objectives:

Beyond the daily and cyclical responsibilities of the job, these priorities must drive decisions:

• Ensure adherence to calendar deadlines by prioritizing workflow.

• Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of comments and updates to factories.

• Keeping a keen focus on margin and profitability goals in the garment construction process.

• Minimize costs by ensuring on-time delivery of patterns to factory partners.

• Ensure frequent and timely communication and collaboration with other workgroups in the organization, including but not limited to, Production and Design departments.

Job Requirements:

• Broad knowledge and experience in: Garment construction, patternmaking, fabrics, trims, factory processes.

• Excellent skills in: Written and verbal communication in individual interactions. Project management and prioritizing; managing and directing a work group.

• Above average skills in: Analysis of sales results to identify issues and opportunities.
