TECHNICAL DESIGNER (Bottoms Category)

We’re looking for a Technical Designer with a keen eye for fit, construction, and quality to support our Bottoms category -- and it could be you! This person will report to our Technical Design Manager, and collaborate with an Assistant Technical Designer while working cross-functionally with our Development, Buying, and Production Teams to help make utterly unique styles inspired by our community. The perfect person for this opportunity is confident leading fittings, assessing fit corrections, creating tech packs, and issuing fit comments to domestic and offshore vendors. Responsibilities

• Fit and comment on domestic and offshore styles, including pants, rompers and skirts.
• Analyze garments to determine compliance of spec, construction, and fit intent
• Issue complete graded specs to vendors
• Maintain accurate tracking system for all styles
• Own all measuring of assigned styles
• Maintain professional, clear, and timely email correspondence with vendors
• Prioritize samples and workload appropriately
• Create and carry out new processes to improve product workflow
• Work closely with assisting team members to problem solve
• Bring urgent issues to Manager’s attention for input and direction
• Partner with Development, Buying, and Production teams
• Maintain organized samples, storage folders, and filing systems

Requirements

• 4-6 years in technical design with bottoms experience
• Degree in Fashion Design, emphasis on Technical Design
• Experience fitting on a live model and dress form
• Knowledge of fabric and garment construction
• Experience communicating fit comments both written and oral to import and domestic vendors
• Knowledge of patterns and production process
• Knock-our-socks-off knowledge of Illustrator sketching and Excel
• Extraordinary measuring skills
• Exceptional organizational skills and a personality that thrives in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work collaboratively as a team player
• Self-starter personality -- someone driven by deadlines with a high sense of urgency

Nice to Haves

• Knowledge of grading
• Experience with Regular and Plus sizing

• Systems experience: Oracle, Excel, Illustrator, Google Docs

The current Team  

The Technical Design team supports all fit standards and development needs up to releasing to production for manufacturing.  The Technical Design team currently consists of a Technical Design Manager, Technical Designers and Assistant Technical Designers.  This role is in our sunny LA office, where you’ll work closely with our Buying, Development, and Production teams.
