TECHNICAL DESIGNER - Based in Los Angeles

 Role Summary

This role will require you to work closely with the Senior Pattern and Technical designer on ongoing projects for company. The focus will be overall sizing and fit, to establish an appropriate grading system to reflect the company’s customer needs. You will work closely with the design team regarding fittings and direct feedback from customers, which will assist with establishing initial development specs in order to inform appropriate construction methods for difficult development styles.

Success in this role requires experience within technical execution and manufacturing of Womenswear; evening, formal and event dresses, as well as pants, shirting and outerwear in a range of largely woven fabrics. It also requires very high attention to detail paired with exceptional communication skills and the ability to deliver a high-quality product and fit.

Key Projects

1.     Updating tech packs for personalized sizing projects - The Freelance technical designer will own the role of updating all current tech packs to match our new grading and sizing system for personal sizing.

2.     Responsible for the creation/import of tech packs into PLM system                                        

Main Responsibilities   - BAU

• Updating all current style grading to reflect new custom sizing approach
• Record all fit sessions (WeChat, in person) with the PD and Design teams, ensuring accuracy and timely response of fit debrief to factory.

Skills and Experience:

• 2+ years’ experience in a Technical Design role with an emphasis on establishing grade rules
• Ability to work in both inches and CM
• Experience working with Far East suppliers and teams
• Ability to grade styles varying in complexity, for both standard and plus size
• Flexibility in terms of willingness to work in a new mindset and not be attached to previous industry standards regarding fit and sizing
• Experience in Bridal or custom-measurement garments a plus
• Organised and efficient with demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise in fast moving production environments
• Strong organisational skills with experience of working to critical deadlines.
• Constructive and collaborative team working style; focus on results and solutions built through team collaboration
