TECHNICAL DESIGNER - Apparel

  • The Technical Designer executes the entire technical design process for specific brand/category of apparel with consideration to integrity of design, fit, construction, manufacturing, costs and delivery.
  • Owner of all technical responsibilities related to a specific brand/category
  • Interpret the designer’s vision & define through specifications & detail drawings for clear, concise & accurate Tech Packs on all aspects that relate to technical design
  • Develop block pattern & technical specifications by brand/classification in support of the brand profile, design vision & appropriate customer base
  • Consistently reviews specifications and grade to ensure relevancy in the marketplace and to the consumer. 
  • Guarantees spec integrity across all categories of product.
  • Creates and maintains fit Matrix by brand and product type
  • Conduct fit sessions, analyze all changes & how it relates to specification & pattern than translate information concisely to a technical package. 
  • Responsible for pattern making adjustments that relate to balance and styling changes
  • Tracks, records & organizes garments & information to ensure timely fit sessions from first proto to “Top of Production” approval
  • Responsible for accuracy on Tracking Reports,  ETA's of sample arrival and Cut dates
  • Following up with vendor as needed
  • Ensure that all time and action calendar timelines are met
  • Communicates & partners with design, Sourcing team & manufacturer to protect integrity of set specifications
  • Determine more cost effective methods of garment construction
  • Measure models only if needed.
  • Advises manager if model is out tolerance
  • Attend all milestone meeting be prepared to give measurement specifications and product history
  • Conduct competitor’s analysis seasonally
  • Attend weekly brand meetings as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree- BA/BS degree in apparel/textiles or equivalent industry experience
  • 5-7 years of multi-category Technical design or industry experience
  • Must be proficient with PDS patternmaking system
