TECHNICAL DESIGN - PAID INTERNSHIP
**IMMEDIATE HIRES ONLY**
Responsible to work with Design and Product Development to maintain the design integrity, fit, and garment construction from initial proto through production utilizing draping and pattern making skills.
Initiate clearly written fit comments in Web PDM utilizing drawing skills and photographs.
Responsibilities:
- Draping and pattern making skills in regard to women's knitted garments including tops, pants, and dresses.
- Development of initial sample specifications from original samples and/or design sketch.
- Prepare garments for fittings and measure them with speed and accuracy.
- Determine corrections to achieve fit and document in the PDM technical package incorporating technical sketches, garment construction details, grading, labeling requirements, and ticket placement.
- Coordinate fittings with all players in various departments (Design, Merchandising, etc.) based on required dates advised by production.
- Participate in fittings on live model and to record all fit comments in detail to be written up by self or team member.
- Identify garment fit and construction issues clearly in written comment from utilizing Web PDM.
- Attach construction diagrams and photographs to explain where garment corrections are necessary.
- Communicate clearly with all agents/vendors and factories regarding contents of tech pack, corrections to samples and patterns.
- Interact on daily basis with agents/vendors to problem solve all issues related to garment engineering.
- Keep constant flow of communication with Director of Technical Design to update them on timing and completion of each style in work or alert them of any delays.
- Establish close partnership with Design in order to facilitate the interpretation of Design concepts.
- Help resolve technical issues to maintain design integrity, target price and quality as directed by design and operation.
- Keep organized records of particular garment specification and or construction standards and monitor all new developments for consistency.
- Maintain and track the flow of samples from Fit Samples through Pre-Production/Reference samples to ensure process is adhered
- Ensure through proper specifications, fittings and recommendations to design that merchandise is produced to help drive sales and profitability
Qualifications/Requirements
• In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress
• Current class standing of sophomore or above
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without a visa or sponsorship
• Must have flexible schedule with the ability to work under 30 hours a week
