SWEATER DESIGNER

Seeking a highly creative and organized sweater designer to create knitwear collections for multiple in house brands.  Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills as this position will require working with multiple brand managers and divisional VPs. Ideal candidate will have the ability to create sweater collections from initial concept through production. Looking for candidate with strong analytical ability to interpret business sales and trends in a brand appropriate manner. Looking for sweater expert with some cut & sew experience.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Work with design leads & divisional VPs on the development and execution of sweater product designs that achieve the overall product strategy and merchandise objectives
• Assist in interpreting seasonal fashion direction, assortment opportunities and merchandise trends
• Produce cohesive product presentations, including boards, tear sheets and samples to help sell concepts to merchants
• Prepare line and presentation materials for line previews and buy meetings
• Ensure designs meet merchant line plans, assortment strategies and overall creative direction
• Partner with team leads and divisional VPs in set-up and presenting to buyers/ higher management at line previews and buy meetings
• Shop the retail market to seek new merchandise/trend ideas
• Shop the trend market seeking design inspiration (materials, fashion, color, trade shows) as needed
• Interpret specific color palettes, patterns and prints for the season
• Select and approve style, materials, trims and colors that fit into the program and style plans
• Responsible for creating and distributing yarn development packages
• Responsible for tracking and approving lab dips, yarn, strike-offs, and other development materials
• Compile design and development packages and distribute to technical design and over for sampling
• Review development samples
• Responsible for the design, development, selection and approval of materials, trims, silhouettes, colors and patterns for area of responsibility
• Responsible for specific classification or area – in terms of design and trend research
• Responsible for hand and illustrator sketching, reviewing lab dips and bulk submits

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design
• 5 + years of industry experience (specifically in Sweaters)
• Proficient in MS Office and Excel, Photoshop and Illustrator
• Strong color sense and print sense
• Demonstrated creative ability
• Excellent presentation and organizational skills
• Possess the ability to prioritize and manager workload with multiple deadlines
