The Women’s & Men’s 205W39NYC Fabric Coordinator is responsible for supporting the seasonal research and development of fabric and color for Women’s & Men’s 205W39NYC lines.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:

  • Work closely with Design, Product Development, Production, and Merchandising departments for their fabric needs.
  • Research all new fabric developments for all product lines; working closely with Fabric Manager, design and product development teams.
  • Daily communication and follow up with Milan Calvin Klein office fabric team to track processes, production, deliveries, pricing, technical sheets.
  • Daily interaction of domestic/international mills and agents in partnership with Fabric Director as assigned.
  • Monitor and update pricing for product development/production.
  • Negotiate and provide alternate fabric options when selections are above the budget.
  • Manage timely approvals or re-submits in order for product to ship in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and record updates with pricing, lead times, custom designs, and any fabric testing that is required prior to being adopted into the line.
  • Responsible for recording and coding invoices as well as retrieving appropriate approvals for finance processing.
  • Promote innovative approaches to organization and record keeping.
  • Ensure fabrications adopted meet internal and external quality assurance standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve potential problems limiting liability or cancellations.
  • Organize and maintain the color master for each season as well as assign color names.
  • Maintain bulk color/fabric master for production.
  • Create and manage the Fabric Line sheet with all Fabric details, colors, and quantity shipped.
  • Keep current in Fabric trends; attending fabric seminars, exhibitions, museums.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in fabric research and selection in a luxury fashion house.
  • Experience with Product/Fabric.

Education:

 Bachelor’s Degree in Design (Textile Design preferred) or equivalent work experience

Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of fabric properties (emphasis in color)
  • Good design skills including good color sense are strongly preferred
  • Understanding of current fabric trends and market
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel Skills, MS Outlook/Word skills
  • Strong computer skills, including excel, Photoshop/illustrator or similar programs
