SR.DIRECTOR, FINANCIAL PLANNING

 

Job Description Lead the Financial Planning department as part of the Finance team. Financial planning is responsible for budgeting, long-range strategic planning, forecasting, financial analyses & statistical reporting, as well as meeting ad-hoc demands of top-level executives.
  • Ensure the Financial Planning department produces thoughtful and insightful output in a timely manner. Use organizational skills to ensure that competing demands are prioritized and that expectations are met.
  • Coach, train and motivate Financial Planning team to higher levels of performance and constant improvement of their skill levels.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Company's business, including its risks and opportunities and its competitive environment.
  • Develop strong relationships with executives and others both within and outside the Finance department, and maintain open flow of communication, thus enabling deep knowledge of current events in the business and the potential impact of those events on the financial forecast.
  • Lead the annual budget and long-range strategic plan processes. Plan, organize and delegate tasks in a manner that ensures that all deadlines are met and the Financial Planning staff learns from the process. Collaborate with executives and others to create a well thought out plan with ownership by all business partners.
  • Manage the Company's monthly business analysis, forecasting, capital planning and long range forecasting..
  • Identify profit opportunities through smart and insightful analytics.
  • Present concise and summarized oral and written analyses to top level executives.

 

Requirements
  • MBA preferred but not required.
  • 5 or more year's supervisory experience in Financial Planning functions, with increasing levels of responsibilities. Experience in multiple disciplines in finance a plus (Treasury, Accounting etc)
  • Experience in retail or other such multi-location, multi-state industry (e.g. restaurants) is preferred. Will also consider experience in consumer apparel manufacturers. Working knowledge of retail accounting a plus.
  • Exceptional spreadsheet skills -- must be able to create spreadsheets, audit work of others and ensure that spreadsheets are robust and accurate.
  • Excellent organizational skills -- able to handle multiple tasks with competing deadlines and ensure that expectations are met in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Intellectual curiousity with a drive to understand the interrelationships of all areas of the business.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills that effectively communicate to finance and non-finance professionals
  • Executive presence -- able to interface with top-level executives, board members and others with poise and in an impactful manner.
