SENIOR PRODUCT MANAGER - Contemporary

 

rag & bone is currently looking for a Senior Product Manager that will be responsible for managing the development through execution of product categories handled. The PM will partner with Design and Merchandising to be the conduit for communicating out Design’s seasonal styles, concepts and techniques into saleable garments while simultaneously achieving the categories’ IMU goals and timeline. The PM will oversee and develop the Product Management Associate and Product Management Assistant skill sets.

 

 

 

Developing and Implementing Calendar

 

  • In partnership with Director, build PM calendar using company calendar as benchmarks
  • Communicate out key dates and deadlines to team
  • Develop best practices to ensure that team executes deadlines on time
  • Troubleshoot and communicate any potential risks and delays internally and to cross functional teams
  • Build WIP; meet with team (internal and x-functional) weekly to ensure maintenance
  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure supplier/factories are committing to raw materials

 

Managing Sample Process

 

  • Partner with Design to ensure all details are laid out and communicated prior to season’s start
  • Continually review allocation to ensure department and vendor sourcing strategy is met.
  • Report and communicate development ratios to ensure line plans are met
  • Partner with vendors, designers, TD and sample room to make sure SMS, PP, TOP deadlines are met
  • Collaborate with internal partners to ensure that BOM, Spec Packages and POs are accurate
  • Review design concepts and confirm feasibility for production
  • Issue appropriate trials as needed for bulk approval (fusible trials, wash tests, technique execution, color approvals)
  • Work with team to make sure sample needs are met and on track to hit sample deadline
  • Fabrics and trims available and pulled
  • Workflow tools effective and accurate

 

Costing Management

 

  • Build and maintain cost charts for all styles handles
  • Identify and troubleshoot costing challenges in partnership with Design and Merchandising
  • Negotiate best cost on a style level with vendors
  • Develop costing skills of PM Associate

 

Developing Vendor Relationships

 

  • Foster relationships with vendors
  • Communicate with vendors on a daily basis for clarity and product status
  • Evaluate vendors’ performance and make recommendations on sourcing matrix to Director
  • Continually communicate and reinforce Design’s aesthetic and company’s quality standards

 

Ensuring Quality Standards

 

  • Develop understanding of custom requirement sand communicate to team members to ensure they are being met
  • Communicate business needs to factories and quality control
  • Troubleshoot potential risks, evaluate course of action to prevent future incidents
  • Partner with factories and raw material vendors to ensure quality standards are being met
  • Develop understanding of technical construction and partner with TD to ensure garment is sound
  • Test garments that are potential risks through counter sourcing exercises

 

Ongoing Development of Leadership Skills

 

  • Foster and maintain strong cross functional relationships with Design, Merchandising and Technical Design.
  • Balance process and people management
  • Lead, coach and develop direct reports through routine performance conversations

 

 

 

Requirements

 

  • Exceptional knowledge of product development and production cycle timelines.
  • Solution oriented, critical thinker with ability to balance multiple projects and priorities.
  • Highly detail oriented with outstanding follow up and follow through
  • Proactive approach to anticipate issues and provide solutions
  • Flexible/adaptable to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • 5-7 years of product development/production experience
