Job Description

Reporting Relationships: The Senior Financial Analyst, Gross Profit System Flow reports to Manager, Gross Profit & Inventory Accounting

Major Responsibilities:

 

Support the Manager by providing accurate and timely reporting of gross profit and inventory for multiple banners (Bay, HMO, LT, Saks US & CA etc.) ensuring data flow from upstream systems balance to final financial & management results, and ensuring calculation integrity of the stock ledger system.  Participate in the timely support and accurate accounting of the physical inventory results.  Provide ongoing customer service to merchants, stores and various finance teams for both awareness and investigation into financial results as needed.

 

 

Role Responsibilities:

 

 

  1. Participate in month end close processes and related systemic General Ledger accounting entries.
  2. Oversee system balancing – for all system data flowing to the cost stock ledger
  3. Ensure calculation integrity within the Cost stock ledger is consistent and complies with accounting standards
  4. Approve Account reconciliations – ensuring Trial balance amounts reconcile to the cost stock ledger
  5. Provide customer support to the merchant, store and finance teams for any GP financial questions.
  6. Champion timely resolution of system issues identified with the IT team.
  7. Timely identification of accounting challenges, and action plans to executive management particularly during period ends
  8. Manage the Physical Inventory Accounting, pre-count, during and post-count, for all banners
  9. Provide assistance to the auditors both internal and external
  10. Liaise with teams in IT, AP, Sales Audit, Logistics etc. to create permanent solutions to challenges or process improvement opportunities

 

Qualifications

Personal Characteristics:

 

The successful candidate will need to be a self-starter, and should be comfortable working in an environment of change. He/she must have strong leadership skills and exceptional communication skills. The successful candidate has solid analytical, investigative and problem solving abilities but must be able to see the bigger picture and identify future impacts.  

 

 

Professional Qualifications:

 

 

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience at the analyst level, including process improvement experience
  • People management experience
  • Experienced with, and advance knowledge of, Microsoft Access and Excel
  • Previous experience using Oracle
  • Experience in an international public company is preferred
  • Previous experience in a retail environment would be an asset

 

 

Educational Credentials:

 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business (focus on Finance/Accounting)
  • CPA designation is an asset
