We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Director, Global Procurement to work at our corporate headquarters in East Rutherford, NJ. Reporting to the SVP, Controller, you will be responsible for leading the indirect procurement function, which incorporates global strategic sourcing, center of excellence and procurement operations.

 

Summary

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the procurement organization encompassing the sourcing of all indirect goods and services, outsourced procurement services, vendor diligence and the Procurement Center of Excellence including the developmental coordination and implementation of organizational and Procurement systems, tools, processes and policies.
  • Provide strategic thought leadership, influence and hands on engagement across all indirect spend functions to negotiate and coordinate the sourcing of indirect goods and services ensuring the highest quality and fit for the company. 
  • Drive world class excellence by improving cost, quality, delivery and cash impact of the supply base while rationalizing as necessary for growth and flexibility.  Ensure procurement practices are in accordance with corporate ethics, financial instructions and internal control requirements and result in providing the requisite quality and safety while delivering an advantaged cost to competition.

 

Description

  • Develop and manage the sourcing and supply needs for indirect goods and services (~$800M in total annual spend), which is increasingly collaborated on globally and leveraged for scale to benefit the total enterprise.
  • Have ownership of Procurement Center of Excellence to ensure process and system efficiencies and benefits are realized throughout MK.
  • Have ownership of North America relationship with outsourced procurement and provide strategic direction on applicable scope.
  • Develop and implement strategies to identify and reduce total cost, improve processes, identify opportunities and leverage buying decisions while maintaining or raising quality.
  • Collaborate with business leaders, financial leaders, Global Sourcing teams, and a broad global vendor base.
  • Create and deploy enterprise-wide metrics, tools, and processes to optimize procurement and supplier activities and work collaboratively with business partners to prioritize and drive implementation
  • Create and manage process for first step and ongoing due diligence on potential and current vendors to ensure sound business decisions and risk monitoring and mitigation.
  • Maintain current awareness of industry trends and best practices.
  • Focus on consolidation of suppliers and strong supplier development, performance metrics and relationship building activities to ensure improvement year on year. 
  • Drive process standardization efforts globally to ensure accurate and actionable reporting.
  • Continuously evaluate and assess business needs, and partner with corporate leadership team to establish the procurement vision and strategy.
  • Evaluate and establish appropriate low/best cost country sourcing where appropriate and as required for the business.
  • Provide talent management leadership and mentoring to ensure ongoing succession pipeline and excellence in strategy and execution.
  • Lead and direct a high performing and motivated professional team responsible for interfacing with functional/business partners and ensure ongoing development of team skills
  • This role will have budget and P& L responsibility.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering or Sciences or other with equivalent work experience.  Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) is a plus.  APICS, ISM or CIPS certification a plus.
  • 13+ years of relevant experience in increasingly broader procurement/supply chain roles with demonstrated track record of achievement and growth in leadership.  Minimum of 8 years developing and implementing strategies. Retail experience is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership experience and proven success in team management, mentoring, change management, collaboration and influencing.
  • Self-driven with an entrepreneurial and adaptive leadership style and a passion for procurement.
  • Broad indirect category background required.
  • Excellent financial acumen as related to sourcing and supply chain.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to build close working relationships with business teams and business support functions.
  • High level influencing skills with the ability to create a Procurement brand and sell the services to functional/business partners.
  • Skills and experience in diagnosing and successfully resolving complex issues and identifying transformational opportunities.
  • Strong risk identification and mitigation skills.
  • Excellent process skills (development, analysis, documentation, improvement and management).
  • Exceptional negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact at all levels.
  • Hands on knowledge of variety of contract negotiation strategies as well as global nuances.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop long term strategic plans and thought leadership for enterprise.  Strategic thinker.
