SENIOR DESIGNER - Levi's Ladies Outerwear (G-III Licensed Categories)

Overview:

G-III Apparel Group, the world's premier designer and manufacturer of quality leather outerwear, dresses, women's suits, sportswear and accessories, with a comprehensive portfolio of over 30 licensed and wholly-owned brands, including Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Kenneth Cole, Cole Haan, Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger, Karl Lagerfeld, Levi’s, Dockers, Jessica Simpson, Vince Camuto, Ellen Tracy, Kensie, Ivanka Trump, and G.H. Bass, among others.

The Senior Designer will be guided by a seasonal assortment plan. They will design ladies outerwear that is suitable for the Levi’s brand aesthetic.

They will support the brand vision and deliver financial targets. In addition, they will partner with the VP of Design and Merchant team to collaborate on determining the direction, silhouette and details for the season through research and by implementing these ideas cohesively to create new designs.

Responsibilities:

1. Initiate Color & Concept Development for each season. Research current fashion trends for inspiration, techniques and silhouettes

- Create mood / inspiration boards.

- Create flat sketches

- Work with and VP of Design to finalize silhouettes through sketch reviews

- Present new direction & idea to the Division team members.

2. Initiate and Manage fabric and trim development for outerwear each season.

- Pitch original fabric and trim development.

- Develop CAD design / artwork.

- Approve / Reject fabric or trim development that’s suitable for brand’s aesthetic & product margin goal.

3. With Assistant Designer support build up tech-packs of garment for oversea manufacturers.

- Create sketches

- Input both design & technical detail of each garment.

- 3 stages of tech-pack for each garment: Initial development - Show Room Sample -Bulk Production

4. Communicate with overseas offices / Oversea Agency on daily basis regarding fabric development, sample status, and bulk production.

- Confirming design / technical details & questions.

- Requesting fabric & trim development for new ideas, and follow up.

5. Participate in fittings, production & sales meetings.

- 3 to 5 stages of fittings (Proto, SRS, Bulk process) to ensure fit and quality of product to be delivered to the store & customers.

- Attend sales review, Costing review, Supply & Demand review to reflect retail reaction to design process to achieve higher margin & sales goal.

6. Constantly research & self-educate to be up to date with foremost fashion, trend and culture.

- Market research: Contemporary & luxury brand boutiques & department store, online retailers.

- Current publication research: Magazines, Blog, Trend & Forecasting subscription, Vintage / archive research.

Qualifications:

Fashion Design Degree

At Least 6 Years Industry Experience

Patternmaking, Draping, Sewing
