We currently manage a network of over 2,100 independent artisans through what we call our “virtual factory” - a mobile phone driven supply chain that coordinates opportunity, production and fulfillment with no centralized point of production or overhead. This results in a model so efficient and affordable that artisans retain an unprecedented 25-35% of revenue while Soko is able to compete on price and timelines in the mainstream market. 

THE ROLE

Soko is seeking a Senior Jewelry Designer to design a competitive product line that supports the brands’ strategic and financial goals. Qualified candidates are entrepreneurial, motivated and self-started with a demonstrated passion for beautiful design. The ideal candidate will also succeed in a fast-paced environment, learn quickly, and thrive within a global team. Organization, attention to details and communicating with individuals across a diverse range of disciplines are a must for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with CCO, design, and merchandising teams to develop and execute product designs

  • Support research and development of seasonal trends and colors.

  • Sketch and spec proposed product to be used for production.

  • Interpret design/style trends into brand appropriate product that fits within pricing strategy and production’s (artisan network) skill capacity.

  • Bring a high level of creativity, attention to detail and efficiency while working under tight deadlines and on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Work closely across global team to create product.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of jewelry design experience working in or for established commercial brand.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Jewelry design, design, fine art or related degree preferred.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite and 3D/rhino skills

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating strong conceptual work with excellent execution of ideas.

  • Demonstrated ability to proactively problem solve.

  • Ability to take initiative and ownership of all work, within a fast paced environment.

  • Strong technical drawing abilities.

  • Strong construction and pricing knowledge mandatory.

  • Commitment to Soko’s mission and vision; passionate about ethical and sustainable fashion.
