Role Overview:

  • Reporting to the VP of Merchandising and Sales, the Menswear Sales & Merchandising Assistant supports the development and execution of departmental seasonal strategies and business objectives. This role will assist throughout the entire Product Life Cycle process for all Men’s product categories, including Denim, Ready-To-Wear and Leather.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops the ability to meaningfully recap business and effectively articulate learnings to cross-functional partners. Works with manager to react to business.
  • Provides recommendations and insights for departmental seasonal line plans to guide design, product development and production and to support divisional objectives.
  • Assists in merchandising and presenting seasonal product assortments that meet financial targets and maximize the divisional objectives.
  • Provides input to style ranking based on historical and current product performance. Creates and maintains best sellers, key styles and other necessary recaps for each season.
  • Creates and maintains accurate assortment sheets; communicates changes to appropriate business partners on an ongoing and timely basis.
  • Builds and demonstrates strong teamwork skills by participating in cross-functional and open issues meetings with production. Ensures timely recapping and updating as a result of meetings.
  • Builds and demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the competitive environment.
  • Builds relationships with direct and indirect cross-functional partners: design, production, planning, allocation, marketing, visual.
  • Participates in fitting garments and reviewing product details to ensure execution meets design aesthetic and remains commercially viable.
  • Assists with style setup process including obtaining UPC codes, color, cost and spec information and input into line planning systems.
  • Assists with entering POs each season.
  • Runs and distributes weekly reports such as Open to Sell and Production Reports; creates and runs specialized reporting as necessary.
  • Handles bi-yearly sample sale organization, preparation and management.
  • Organizes and participates in seasonal line sheet photo shoots.
  • Manages samples, including maintaining a lending log and coordinating samples across cross-functional teams for key meeting setups, product knowledge and photo shoots.
  • Assists in quarterly line presentation prep work and build and maintain assortment tools and sku counts.
  • Manages special projects when partnering with accounts on gifting and/or sales incentive programs.
  • Analyzes current business trends; Identifies business opportunities and risks through sales performance analysis.
  • Communicates changes in deliveries, receipt quantities and other merchandise operations to appropriate members of the cross-functional team on a timely basis.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Fashion Merchandising or equivalent preferred.
  • 0-2 years of merchandising or retail buying experience needed.
  • Understanding of business driver components (e.g. sales reports, history and company trends).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Strong organization skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to clearly articulate a point of view.
  • Business acumen.
  • Passion and eye for product.
  • Team player with a focus on collaboration.
