ROLE MANDATE

Hudson’s Bay is looking for a fashion PR professional to join our team.  Reporting to the Director of Public Relations, the successful candidate will have proven media relations skills, great relationships with fashion and lifestyle press and is comfortable managing numerous projects and priorities. They will be well-connected and passionate about the fashion retail industry, as well as quick, eager, efficient and in the know.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Development of PR plans for key projects and initiatives
  • Writing of press materials including press releases, media alerts, e-blasts, invites and seasonal media outreach documents
  • Proactively pitch media across Canada on Hudson’s Bay programs and initiatives
  • Secure product placement for Hudson’s Bay in media outlets throughout the country
  • Coordinate interview/media requests for specified Hudson’s Bay spokespeople, draft messaging where necessary
  • Maintain and develop existing and new media relationships with fashion and lifestyle editors/producers/stylists/bloggers
  • Meet with editors and stylists in-store to coordinate merchandise loans
  • Work with Hudson’s Bay Queen Street store (primarily) and other stores where necessary to coordinate merchandise loans for editorial use
  • Respond to fact checking and image requests from various media outlets in a timely fashion
  • Attend tapings of television segments as required
  • Manage and maintain media lists
  • Liaise as required with merchant teams, vendors on media requests
  • Compile reports and recaps for various programs and initiatives as required
  • Development, planning and execution of seasonal PR events such as media previews (booking venue, catering, coordinating samples, visual, invitations, guest list development, etc.)
  • Manage PR aspects of events including booking and coordinating one-on-one media interviews with designers/talent; developing and sending press invitations, media alerts and media follow up
  • Liaising with event photographer to obtain images in a timely fashion
  • Develop and pitch event listings and send post-event alerts/images to key press
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedule
  • Assist with in-store events as required
  • Processing and tracking of invoices; Budget management; Tracking media coverage

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Minimum 3-4 years experience working in the Public Relations field
  • Post Secondary education in Public Relations or a related field of study
  • Proven media relations skills and relationships with press
  • Strong research and computer skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Flexibility in schedule (open to working evenings and weekends as required)
  • Results oriented, must be willing to take ownership of all assigned responsibilities
  •  Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  •  Ability to juggle multiple tasks, projects and priorities
  •  Strong team player
  • Positive, “can-do” attitude, prepared to “get your hands dirty”
  • Retail experience an asset
  •  Ability to speak French an asset, not required
