Production Line Lead

Specific Responsibilities:

Second and Third Shift Supervisors

  • Leads and directs employees to work in a safe manner following all company safety rules and procedures. Ensures compliance with all safety policies.
  • Commitment to Total Quality Leadership (TQL) through implementation of the Quality Policy and participation in, or support of, teams and work groups. Understand and comply with all applicable requirements of the Company’s cGMP quality system as documented in the Quality Manual, System Procedures, and Work Instructions.
  • Enforces that all company Operating Procedures are followed. May be required to write or update SOP's as needed.
  • Leads compliance with all FDA regulations in the manufacturing area including proper PPE, gowning and any other FDA requirements and others as applicable.
  • Supports packaging efforts in filling or assembly area. Includes placement of tubes in cartons and shippers, stacking of shippers on pallets, assembly of goods in cartons, shrink wrapping, etc. Trains new employees on proper SOP’s and all production line requirements.
  • Leads decisions about scheduled production and executes the plan meeting shift goals and expectations.
  • Drives production standards without sacrificing quality and safety (e.g. tube filling output, assembly output)
  • Leads and sets example for adherence to company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.
  • Identifies and eliminates defects and possible defects in workmanship by following SOP’s and raising issues immediately for resolution. Drives change within the organization.
  • Identifies and eliminates all quality related issues, both potential and existing. Provides inputs to investigations, follows any changes in procedures or processes due to investigation corrective actions.
  • Responsible for reporting final production numbers, reviewing labor, and other production required documentation like work order paperwork or cleaning logs. Also ensures accuracy of paperwork and compliance with timeliness of paperwork submission from the team.
  • Trains Production Associates and Production Line Coordinators on new or updated SOP’s
  • Provides technical expertise to resolve production issues. Can repair equipment with support from maintenance and ensures corrective actions are identified and implemented.
  • Manages employee performance and performance evaluations as well as discipline and overall employee development.
  • Acts as a member of the management team and performs other duties as directed or required by Director of Manufacturing.
  • Provides input to monthly reports, including but not limited to labor utilization, productivity and safety.
  • Understands and applies improvements to labor and material variances. Drives change where needed to meet MUV and labor variance goals.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Skills and Requirements:

  • High school diploma required
  • 4-6 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong PC familiarity; including word processing, project management skills, organizational and leadership skills. Experience with QAD (ERP software). Excellent verbal and written skills; Good Electrical and Mechanical ability; knowledge and experience using basic hand tools, ; Machine repair and set-up capability; experience with operator interfaces, mechanics, and strong mathematical ability.
