Product Development Manager - (G-III Licensed Categories)

Overview:

G-III Apparel Group, the world's premier designer and manufacturer of quality leather outerwear dresses, women's suits and sportswear with a comprehensive portfolio of over 30 licensed and wholly-owned brands, including Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Kenneth Cole, Cole Haan, Guess?, Tommy Hilfiger, Karl Lagerfeld, Levi’s, Dockers, Jessica Simpson, Vince Camuto, Ellen Tracy, Kensie, Ivanka Trump, and G.H. Bass, among others. 

The Calvin Klein and Karl Lagerfeld Handbag divisions seek a Product Development Manager to support and drive the development process encompassing sample management, design aesthetic, quality, margin requirement, and time line.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute day to day based on priorities set by Director, and drives task completion and issue resolution.
  • Operate with working knowledge of the development process and how it relates to the Product Development Timeline and business partners (PD teams, Design, Merchandising, Materials, Production).
  • Send development packages to overseas partners and sample facilities. Ensure accuracy of information.
  • Initiate and keep track of status of material and sample requests, approvals, and alert management of exceptions.
  • Support the review of prototypes to meet Product Development Timeline milestones with a focus on product execution, consistency of details, and target margin.
  • Understands and upholds Designs aesthetic intent. Executes, updates and maintains necessary tools (Design Cards, Functionality Chart, Development Logs and Matrices).
  • Responsible for daily communication with overseas offices.
  • Work within and demonstrate proficiency in PLM.
  • Build effective relationships with internal partners in Design, Merchandising, Materials and Production to help execute cross functional synergy and collaboration.
  • Demonstrate understanding of costing implications as they relate to the Product Development process.
  • Manage development costs, final costs and monthly PO costs.
  • Review cost sheets and validate cost components/ factory charges against necessary tools (i.e. Matrices, Samples).
  • Update and maintain accurate costs in all internal costing tools based on product updates and costing milestones.
  • Communicate on cost corrections and updates.

Qualifications:

  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in handbag or accessories product development
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong sense of teamwork and ability to multitask
  • Strong analytical and decision making skills
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to interact with others and resolve conflict within various levels of the organization
  • Must be able to perform efficiently in a high pressure, fast paced environment
