PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
- Assist the design and product development team with operational support in creating and executing seasonal collections
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in assembling Design Boards & materials for presentation (mood, color, fabric & trim boards and catalogs)
- Assist with preparation for all Design Meetings, Board Reviews, Hand Offs, Line Reviews and market week presentations
- Organize and record all styles, research, reference garments, trim, etc.
- Swatch and create hangers for Design & Product Development Team
- Receiving, tagging and rolling sample fabric yardage
- Communicate with fabric vendors to maintain accurate information
- Assist in updating technical packages
- Update sketches, line sheets and catalogs
- Assist technical design in preparing for fit sessions (measuring, preparing and steaming garments/files)
- Manage and track development & approval samplesĀ
- Track and Check in Samples
- Manage sample loans and keep an accurate and updated account of loans
- Update sample tracking charts
- Assist in receiving, entering and logging all development samples
- Maintain accurate records that are critical to the development process
- Create tags for all new development samples
- Photograph all new development samples and save images in shared drive for PD team
- Assist with sample pick-ups/drop-offs
- Assist product development with lab dip, strike off & trim submits; maintain records
- Shop Market to find trims and findings to update or correct samples
- Maintain sample, trim, fabric and color libraries
- Learn to communicate with fabric vendors to maintain accurate information
- Receiving, tagging and rolling sample fabric yardage
- Assist in ordering, tracking and organizing development fabrics
- Shipping Development packages out/receiving packages in
- Preparing Sample Cutting Tickets
- Prepping Outgoing Shipments to Factories including shipping documents.
- Cross-check packing list with physically received fabrics and samples
- Help to copy/organize in house patterns
- Assist in beading and hand sewing samples when neededĀ
- Attend and observe prototype fittings
- Additional seasonal projects
- Help to maintain a clean and organized office space
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Associates or Bachelors degree with major in Fashion Merchandising or Design preferred
- 2-3 years of experience in related field
- Interest in sourcing, developing, textiles, product development and production/manufacturing
- Creative thinker with an understanding of the product development lifecycle
- Demonstrate strong, consistent problem solving abilities and result-driven communication with business partners
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and WebPDM is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously in order to help meet team deadlines
