Product Development Assistant, Footwear Division - Entry Level

Capelli New York designs, manufactures and markets on-trend private label and branded products for Women, Men, Teens, Tween and Kids. Sold nationally and internationally, the company’s coordinated product lines include fashion accessories, handbags, jewelry, hosiery, footwear, rainwear, sleepwear and novelty.

We are currently seeking a Product Development Assistant for our Footwear Division to work at our New York Corporate Office. The overall aim of this role is to assist the product manager in developing new products and designs to meet our product line and customer needs. Here’s a snapshot of what you will be doing:

  • Communicate daily with overseas factories to ensure development samples are executed correctly and deadlines are met
  • Track development and production statuses for samples
  • Review and process sample requests received from sales team
  • Assist product development team with all aspects of development process and samples
  • Sort through and manage samples received from China on a daily basis
  • Log and send the samples received to the appropriate persons
  • Maintaining the upkeep and layout of the footwear showrooms
  • Request pricing from vendors and enter the information into PLM
  • Communicate and follow up with overseas vendors on a daily basis
  • Liaise with internal teams (production, sales, etc.) to ensure the approval of samples and all materials are made in time to meet the production schedule deadlines
  • Arrange inspections and review final production received at our domestic warehouses in New Jersey

Here are the position requirements: 

  • Must be able to multi-task and adapt to a fast paced work environment
  • Knowledge of Excel is a must
  • Strong communication skills and able to work as a part of team
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast paced environment in order to meet deadlines
  • Must have the ability to be punctual, prepared and professional
  • Must have a good work attitude and work ethic
  • Must be a responsible and reliable team player
  • Must be detail-oriented, extremely organized and able to work well under pressure
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have exceptional follow up skills
  • Must be self-motivated, resourceful and able to work on projects independently
  • Must be able to complete all tasks given based on designated timelines
  • Must have excellent computer skills especially Microsoft excel, word and outlook

Salary:  $35-$38K
