Product Assistant - Fashion and Home Accessories

 

 

Echo Design is a New York City based, industry leader in the design, marketing and distribution of fashion and home accessories. Our products range from scarfs and wraps, cold weather mufflers, hats and gloves, swimwear, beach cover-ups, and handbags, to a full line of licensed home products including bedding, bath, window, fabrics, rugs, wallpaper, and dinnerware.

TITLE: PRODUCT ASSISTANT

REPORTS TO: PRODUCT MANAGER/ASSOCIATE PRODUCT MANAGER

FUNCTION:

The Product Assistant will interact closely with Design, Sales and Merchandising. S/He will be responsible for managing the day to day functions in product development including sourcing, costing, product management and sample follow-up. The Product Assistant assists in all aspects of product development with primary responsibility for all administrative related functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

  • Assist with product development in collaboration with Product Manager as well as Design and Merchandising.
  • Create all proto and market sample Purchase Orders throughout the development process.
  • Communicate with factories and send tech packs, request costing, send sample PO’s, and track all orders.
  • Assist with creating cost sheets and margin analysis in PLM system.
  • Monitor calendar deadlines and workflow with Product Manager and Design partners to ensure on time delivery.
  • Manage invoicing process for samples and development costs to assist finance department in making timely payments
  • Assist with fabric and quality sourcing with overseas factories to incorporate into new designs.
  • Communicate with suppliers to proactively manage all issues.
  • Schedule appointments and travel including vendor and customer meetings.
  • Review quality issues and work with internal team and suppliers to resolve.
  • Follow time and action calendar and adhere to all deliverables.
  • Maintain all data entry and ensure information is accurate.
  • Exhibit strong presentation and communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Business, Fashion or related field and 1- 2 years of related experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills; detail oriented.
  • Flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Punctual and dependable.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build strong, productive relationships with teammates and cross functional partners.
  • Basic understanding of product development and manufacturing process.
  • Comfortable negotiating and selling.
  • Strong in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with a PLM system preferred.
  • Demonstrates all Echo principles.
