Overview

The Photo Producer is responsible for managing shoot production and execution for all Urban Outfitters editorial assets including Catalog, Internal Marketing, PR, Look books, Digital Shoots, and Special Projects. This includes managing the Photo Dept. budget as well as meeting with and sourcing models, photographers and locations that reflect the overall feel of the brand. Along with the Creative Director, Art Director and Director of Production, the Photo Producer helps to identify talent that reflects the overall seasonal creative concept and travels to all shoot locations with the photography team.

Responsibilities

  • Management of photo shoot production and budgets for the Urban Outfitters catalog, internal marketing, digital shoots, and social media needs
  • Work with Photo Director and Post-Production Manger to streamline production and meet all print and go-live deadlines
  • Continually identify emerging models, photographers, and hair/makeup artists with an intuitive understanding of the Urban brand and the Urban customer
  • Travel to all shoot locations and manage all on-set operations through leadership of over twenty-person crews
  • Assist in all aspects of regularly scheduled castings to scout models. Maintain model and photographer databases that can be used for all shoots
  • Maintain active relationships with external photo and model agencies, photographers, artists, blogs, etc. to keep up-to-date information to be used in production throughout the season and contribute to the development of the Urban brand
  • Work with the Director of Production to forecast the yearly shoot calendar to achieve all necessary assets in a timely manner
  • Work with the Director of Production to determine yearly budgets, as well as handle billing and invoice processing for all editorial assets
  • Help to plan yearly calendar for all shoots, from initial concept meetings to post-production timeline
  • Review, together with the Director of Production, Art Director and Creative Director, seasonal creative concepts and suggest potential models, locations and photographers that reflect the seasonal direction. Continue to feed information and direction as seasons progresses
  • Create and maintain relationships with outside production companies. This includes all travel, location scouting, booking of talent, logistics of domestic and international shoots
  • Participate in creative meetings to contribute to efficient and effective use of photographs within the different departments of Urban Outfitters.

Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge of applicable computer programs including In Design, Photoshop Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Interest in fashion, culture, and art photography
  • Detailed Management and negotiation of production budgets
  •  Self-directed, reliable and flexible. Always open to new ideas and bringing new ideas to the table
  • Enthusiasm about travel, production and photography, with the ability to see creative vision through from inception to completion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to organize complex information and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently with high sense of urgency while supporting company goals and objectives
  • Ability to identify and communicate trends appropriate to customer and distill trend information into photographic images that drive sales and marketing plans
  • Ability to work within the creative team and adapt to evolving ideas of a rapidly developing brand.

Job Skills

  • 2+ years in photo production with publishing or photo agency.
On-set experience managing large crew.
Photography experience and Portfolio review.
Educational background in Photography, Fine Art, Fashion Design, or similar discipline
  • Maintain and manage budget goals for all editorial shoots.
An understanding of the trends and taste of the Urban Outfitters customer. An ability to multitask between different projects simultaneously. Knowledge of Excel, Photoshop, Capture One and In Design.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion, Business, or a related field.
