MERCHANDISE PLANNER

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Merchandise Planner develops, reviews and inputs financial plans by retail location. Maintains focused store cluster groups that tie back to overall financial needs.  Partners with store planning / allocations and buying teams to develop new store assortments and allocation strategies which maximize sales and inventory. The right candidate must have strong analytical skills, a strong ability to identify risks and opportunities by store, and develop action plans to achieve financial goals.             

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Focus on maximizing profitability while aligning with total company goals and expectations
  2. Responsible to manage and oversee focus area. Participate in tops down and bottoms up planning.
  3. Own the monthly open to buy process.
  4. Provide competitive analysis as requested.     
  5. Partner with store planning team to develop new store opening assortment and allocation strategies.
  6. Analyzes historical data and current trends.    
  7. Identifies risks and opportunities by department and class.           
  8. Provides performance recaps to plan at the weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly levels.      
  9. React to business changes to ensure all stores are operating as optimal as possible                 
  10. Identifies risks/opportunities for a department or class and develop action plans to achieve the financial goals.
  11. Manage Store Planner with positive direction.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Years of Related Professional Experience: 3+ years of Direct to Consumer Planning or Allocations
  • Strong retail math skills and analytical experience         
  • Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office applications (Advanced Excel, Word)
  • Experience with Full Circle and/or KWI, a strong plus
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • People management experience a strong plus
