Position Summary:Position Summary

Private Brands Merchandise Assistants are responsible for assisting the Product Manager and Assistant Product Manager in creating quality private brand merchandise for Belk.  They assist in facilitating communication with Merchant team, and coordinate production with design and technical.  Specific responsibilities include, assisting the Product Manager in the following:

 

•         Facilitate the refinement of product design, specifications and costs.

•         Assist all contacts on private label merchandise including garment specifications, packaging and labeling specifications, and quality control information (with QA team).

•         Manage product flow and delivery dates to ensure merchandise arrives in accordance with corporate time and action calendar.

•         Manage purchase order detail.

•         Manage product samples.

Essential Functions
Item Database

  • Set up and maintain items in Belk’s Item Database for special orders
  • Set up items in database
  • Enter price changes

Purchase Order Management

  • Create and input orders into Purchase Order Management system
  • Change and update purchase orders as needed
  • Process Return To Vendor (RTV's) / damaged merchandise/ returns
  • Maintain shipping log for orders
  • Track shipping and receipts

Administrative / Clerical

  • Prepare specification sheets for advertising
  • Administer sample programs for advertising
  • Knowledge of IMS 2 in order to pull results of circulars, tests, and special events
  • Copying, faxing, and filing for Buyer and Assistant Buyer
  •  Prepare Excel spreadsheets for report formats as required
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations as needed


Requirements/Qualifications: Position RequirementsEducation & Experience: 

  • Four-year college degree preferred

Competencies:

  • Previous retail experience
  • Familiar with standard PCs and business software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Advanced computer navigational skills
  • Proficient analytical skills

Physical: 

  • Ability to perform light to medium lifting
  • Ability to load/unload freight or samples
  • Ability to operate computer & keyboard
  • Ability to manipulate merchandise both hanging & folding
